Salam

Now is 1.20 am, on the last day of May.
I've made unplanned video call to Malaysia just now!
Weehuu...
Thanks to my brother, Syamim.

Actually, I just woke up, and replied his comment on my facebook wall. Just made a random request to him to open his Skype account and have a video call session with my family. And he replied, "Oke da bukak skype"

I jumped straight away from my bed, grabbed my camera and headphone and started to setup all the gadgets. With a sleepy face, I hit "video call".


The 1st attempt, blank screen. Owh!

Second attempt, yeay! It's working.

"Ayah nape nampak kurus? Diet eh? Hehe.." teased me.
"Alah kak yun tu yang da gemuk" he replied.
Amek ko sebijik.. Haha..

10 useless matters! Avoid them..

By Imam Ibn ul Qayyim al Jawziyyah, there are 10 useless matters:

1. Knowledge that is not acted on.
2. The deed that has neither sincerity nor is based on following the righteous example of others.
3. Money that is hoarded, as the owner neither enjoys it during this life nor obtains any reward for it in the Hereafter.
4. The heart that is empty of love and longing for Allah, and of seeking closeness to Him.
5. A body that does not obey and serve Allah.
6. Loving Allah without following His orders or seeking His pleasure.
7. Time that's not spent in expiating sins or seizing opportunities to do good.
8. A mind that thinks about useless matters.
9. Serving those who do not bring you close to Allah, nor benefit you in your life
10. Hoping and fearing whoever is under the authority of Allah and His hand; while he cannot bring any benefit or harm to himself, nor death nor life; nor can he resurrect himself.

However the greater of these matters are WASTING the HEART and TIME.

Wasting the heart is done by preferring this worldly life over the Hereafter and wasting time is done by having incessant hope.

Destruction occur by following one's desire and having incessant hope, while all goodness is found in following the right path and preparing oneself to meet Allah. How strange is that when servant of Allah has a worldly problem, he seeks helps of Allah, but he never asks Allah to cure his heart before it dies of ignorance, neglect, fulfilling one's desire and being involved in innovations.

Indeed, when the heart dies, he will never feel the significance / impact of his sins. MashaAllah...

Winter's coming!

Salam everyone!

After 2 weeks or struggle and busy-ness due to assignments marathon, I'm back! 3 weeks left to final. Owh! And I even have one subject that starts after maghrib prayer! (x pernah2 aku exam malam hari...)

Ok, back to topic. With the ends of May, Brisbane is officially in winter. Eventhough it's never snows at Queensland, but it still cold! And yes, unlike Adelaide, Melbourne and other parts of Australia, the trees here haven't started to yellowish. Thank Allah I'm not destined to study at the snowy country cause I can't tolerate with coldness! Owh, I miss the hot climate of Malaysia so much..

By hook or by crook, I'm going to get myself a heater tomorrow. I will not allow this freaking cold weather (sejuk la sangat kn? Tapi sejuk jugak...) to bother me especially when the final is just around the corner. Gambatte!

Owh ya, some updates. The last 3 days had been tough for me. I've been overnight at UQ library for the sake to finish my assignments. Under sleep deprivation for 3 days made me felt like, "Am I still alive?" Alhamdulillah, Allah gave me strength. Owh Dr Susan Rowland, please gives me high score for that assingment.. With Allah's will, amin..

24 hours

It's May, month of assignments, revisions, and tests. A hectic month, which is normal for a uni student. You are expected to manage your time wisely. Assignment after assignment, write up after write up, it's seems endless to me. Haven't even started my revision, and yet the uni already released the final exam timetable last Monday.. O' Allah, give me strength, only to You I turn to...


Everyone have 24 hours a day. None of us own more than 24 hours even a sec. Allah is fair, everyone is equal. Nawaitu lillah, insyAllah, the workloads will be done by the due date. Amin!

Ibu

Berketurunan Pelembang, amat fasih bertutur Jawa. Berkelulusan tak tinggi mana, tapi mempunyai impian yang tinggi supaya anak-anaknya belajar lagi tinggi dari dia. Sangat petah bercakap, bakat semulajadi seorang guru. Andai pihak sekolah ada membuat kempen kutipan derma ke badan-badan korporat, dialah orang pilihan untuk menjadi wakil sekolah. "Bagi dia buat kutip derma, nanti mesti dapat banyak", usik kawan-kawan sejawatan.

Dia multitasking woman. Petang ajar budak kadet bomba kawad, petang mula memasak untuk makan malam dan teman ayah di rumah layan berita, tengah malam tanda kertas peperiksaan, malam isnin ke kelas aerobik, asal cuti sekolah da habis selalu hantar anak-anaknya balik ke asrama kalau ayah tak sempat. "Ibu suka bawa kereta la", katanya.

Dia tukang urut saya yang mahir. "Ibu period pain la nak urut", "Ibu perut masuk angin sebab lambat makan, urutkan", "Urutkan bu, kena gastrik sebab tadi tak makan nasi".


Nama diberi Istikomah Siwar. Dia, ibu saya! Terima kasih ibu untuk semua jasa ibu yang tak tersenarai banyaknya. Selamat Hari Ibu..


p/s: Tadi sempat ckp dengan ibu sekejap je sebab ibu tengah latihan kawad. Sedih.. Tapi tak pe, July ni Kak Yun balik dapat jumpe Ibu dan Ayah. Yay!!

Cheese cake

Salam all,

I've just made my 1st cheese cake yesterday. With the help from my housemates, Azzah and Atiqah. Gracias guys! And yeah, I can say it was a success as I managed to produce a similar taste of cheese cake as Secret Recipe's. Hoyeeh! Da x yah tunjuk muke kt secret lg da. I can make my own New York cheese cake!

I'm going to bake another cheese cake tonight for the usrah and gathering this weekend. Hopefully it will turn out to be one of my master piece. Ececeh..Thanks to my great sifu, Wan Najwa for sharing her generation-to-generation recipe. Thanks also to Rafizan for giving me the trigger to start baking cheese cake. Kalau tak, aku malas sungguh nak gi beli bahan2 die...

And yes, I'm one step closer from my dream, to own a bakery shop. Doakan ye!
